  中新网东莞3月30日电 (记者 孙自法)中国科学院高能物理研究所(高能所)3月30日在广东东莞举行中国散裂中子源二期工程启动会,标志着被誉为探索物质材料微观结构“超级显微镜”的该大科学装置,升级任务正式开工建设。

  作为国家重大科技基础设施之一,中国散裂中子源二期工程建成后,装置研究能力将大幅提升,实验精度和效率将显著提高,能够为探索科学前沿,解决国家重大需求和产业发展中的关键科学问题提供科技利器。

  中国散裂中子源二期工程主要建设11台中子谱仪和实验终端,建成后中子谱仪数量将增加到20台,并新增国内首台缪子实验终端和高能质子实验终端。同时,中国散裂中子源加速器打靶束流功率将从一期的100千瓦设计指标提高到500千瓦。

  据中国科学院高能所副所长、中国散裂中子源二期工程总指挥王生介绍,二期工程初步设计概算于2024年1月获国家发展和改革委员会批复,建设周期为5年9个月。二期工程建成后,中国散裂中子源在同等时间内能产生更多中子,不仅能有效缩短实验时间,还能使实验分辨率更高,能够测量更小的样品、研究更快的动态过程。

  中国散裂中子源是粤港澳大湾区首个国家重大科技基础设施,为粤港澳大湾区建设综合性国家科学中心、打造国际科技创新中心提供了重要科技内核。中国散裂中子源二期工程建设,将有力推动粤港澳大湾区的原始创新能力,并与其他大科学装置形成集群优势,为粤港澳大湾区科技发展和产业升级作出贡献。

  中国散裂中子源2018年完成国家验收、投入运行以来,用户迅速增加,现有注册用户已超过6000人,机时供不应求。截至目前,已完成1500余项(含港澳台地区及国外100余项)用户实验课题,涵盖了能源、物理、材料、工程等多个前沿交叉和高科技研发领域,在航空航天关键部件应力检测、锂离子电池、太阳能电池结构、稀土磁性、新型高温超导、功能薄膜、高强合金、芯片单粒子效应等重点领域取得一批科技创新成果。正是由于中国散裂中子源丰硕的成果产出和强烈的用户需求,其二期工程才得以快速立项并启动建设。

  据悉,中国散裂中子源二期工程已经在关键技术预研方面取得重要进展,主要包括国内首台高功率高梯度磁合金加载腔已正式投入运行、P波段大功率速调管顺利通过验收,以及中子探测器、中子导管、中子极化器等研制取得突破,这些都为中国散裂中子源二期工程的成功建设奠定了坚实的技术基础。

  当天启动会上,中国科学院、广东省、东莞市和中国散裂中子源科学技术委员会成员、参建科研人员及合作单位等代表相聚一堂,共同见证中国大科学装置“超级显微镜”开启升级。(完)
